New Members Night
The next new member’s night will be held on Friday 20th October from 6pm. The event aims to encourage our newest members to come down and enjoy a drink while you get to know the Squadron and the people who make it.

The night is not exclusively for new members - we encourage ALL of our members to come down and make them feel welcome, becoming a friendly face for next time our new members are at the Squadron. Who knows, you might even find your next crew member!

Please note our Winter Prize night will start at 7pm with dinner bookings essential - phone 6223 1977.

AFL Grand Final Annual Working Bee
The weather gods were looking after us for a Saturday of work and fun. The rain held off and the busy working bees were able to polish, weed, clean, build, tidy, and paint. Some of the highlights of the working bee jobs completed included major kitchen improvements, sparkling windows in and out, polished trophies, painting, varnished tables and boats, gardening and wall building.

Gourmet Breakfast of egg and bacon rolls were a great start to the day, compliments of Ian Johnston, Brad Aitken and Craig Westlake and Tasmanian Bakeries. Morning tea was a great chance to re-group and catch up. For DSS General Manager Shaun Tiedmann this was the highlight with old salts, young salts and new salts enjoying a well-earned cuppa and chat.

Paul Burnell was project manager for the new wall in the men’s toilets; and it was great to see he still knows which end of the hammer to hold. Assisted by the experience of Scott Brain, Oli Burnell and return-to-work apprentice Kevin Jacobson. We have new lighting for the flag pole courtesy of Ron Bugg.
Commodore Steve Chau was impressed with the number of members who turned up to make the day a great success for the club which is sparkling for spring sailing. A big thank you to all the members who made the effort to join in the fun, and make a significant difference to our club. We thank you all for your invaluable contribution.

With the morning effortlessly behind us, we then cruised into AFL Grandfinal. The club decorated for the Tigers Vs Crows Grand Final game. National Pies and beverages freely flowed, and Harry Hale made the dash for hot chips for the hungry crew. A fantastic day was had by all, and the camaraderie of the morning flowed well into the afternoon with a Tiger win.

Thank you to all those regular and new worker Bees for their ongoing dedication to making sure our club keeps looking top notch!
